Artist's Comments

Finally found the photo for this.

This is a 16x24 in. acrylic painting I did at the end of summer of the Chicago Theatre and surrounding State St. in downtown Chicago. It was a wedding gift for my cousin; she wanted a painting of the city. The Chicago Theatre seemed like a good subject, being a major landmark.

I took the reference photos myself after class, but had to work around the fact that the 87-year-old theatre is currently under some exterior restoration and covered with scaffolding. Thankfully, there is minimal street activity during midday- everyone is at work. I'd hate to paint all those cars T_T.

Also, please try to ignore the shadow that the frame is casting on the canvas :P.
