One of the four sacred gaurdians of the compass in Buddhism, known as Byakko in Japan, Baihu in China, and Baekho in Korea. The white tiger is the gaurdian of the west, and corresponds to the color white, the element of metal, wind, the season autumn, and of virtue and righteousness. When a person is buried with metal objects it is said that the tiger is their gaurdian. In China, the tiger is believed to be the king of all animals and the lord of the mountains. Thus white jade, also known as tiger jade, was reserved for commanders of armies. The tiger, among other things, represented the god of war, and not only served the armies of emperors, but fought off the demons that threatened the dead in their graves.

Ahh, I love all the ancient symbolism of animals, and I think you portrayed the tiger here really well. The colours look great, very regal and 'sacred'. Awesome job!
Ooh, that's really neat! I love how the stripes swirl in certain spots. Very majestic looking. Awesome detail, with the fur and the backbone.
I also liked how you acknowledged the characters as in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean . (Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine when people think it's only Japanese. I get that a lot...)

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
